Growing Habaneros

May 20th, 2009

I’ve just found a few habanero Seeds and decided to grow a few Plants.

I’m not sure where the seeds come from. They could either be from Madame Jeanette Fruits which I bought on the Great Market (Grote markt) in Groningen 2 years ago, or from a mix of Red and Green Habaneros from an Asia Shop. I hope they start to grow without any Problems. I just planted 4 Seeds. I grew more then 20 Plants a couple years ago and that was a bit too much.

One Million Scoville Pepper Extract

May 19th, 2009

I bought this Sauce a few Month ago and it’s one of my favourites. It’s perfect to spice up any of your favourite Sauces. I mix 25 Drops with 300ml Ketchup and the result is a Ketchup hotter than anything you probably ever tasted.

The only Ingredient of 1 Million Scoville Pepper Extract is pure Oleoresin Capsicum. In fact, that’s what Pepper Spray is made of.p190508_1918

If you’re a real Chilihead, you should get this Sauce, it will last for Months or even years.

How to monetize your Websites

May 19th, 2009

There are quite a few ways to make money with your Website or Blog.

The most well known Advertisement Application is called Adsense by Google which is one of the highest paying Networks.

Adsense crawls the Content of your Page and displays related Ads. For me, Adsense has always been the highest revenue Stream for my Websites.

But in some cases Adsense just doesn’t really work too well. Forums for instance.  People who come to a Web Forum usually know what they are looking for, they barely click on an Adsense Ad. This is what I know from my own experience.

But there are other Ad Networks that are worth to have a look at:

1.) Ebay Relevance Ad

2.) Different Banner Networks at Rightmedia

3.) Vibrant Intext Advertising

4.) Contaxe

EURUSD broke Channel

May 16th, 2009

EUR/USD broke it’s channel from April 27th.

Right now things look rather bearish for EU, but I’m not sure if I can trust it. On May 8th EURUSD broke a strong Downtrend. As long as EURUSD stays above it anything can happen.

How to track what you’re doing

May 16th, 2009

There is a pretty nice tool for Linux, that lets you track what you’re doing.

It’s called hamster-applet. Simply launch Synaptic Package manager and search for Hamster.

It’s in the Ubuntu repositories.

Once you have installed it, you should add it to the Panel:

Richtclick on the Panel and click on “Add to Panel”.

How to switch from Joomla to Wordpress or vice versa

May 16th, 2009

If you want to switch your Blogging Software, but want to keep your old Postings, you can do it by moving your old files to another Folder and installing the new Software in the main directory. That’s what I just did.

1.) Use your favorite ftp Client and log into your Webhosts ftp area. I personally prefer FileZilla.

2.) Create a new Folder. I called it “old”

joomlavswordpress01

3.) Move all files from your Mainfolder into your new created folder. I can use drag n drop with Filezilla. If your ftp Client doesn’t allow drag n drop, you have to download everything and then upload it again to the new folder.

4.) open the configuration.php file with your favorite editor

5.) Adjust the following lines:

$mosConfig_absolute_path = ‘/home/youraccount/public_html/yourwebsite.com/old’;

$mosConfig_cachepath = ‘/home/youraccount/public_html/yourwebsite.com/old/cache’;

$mosConfig_live_site = ‘http://yourwebsite.com/old’;

6.) Upload the new configuration.php

7.) Once that is done enter the new Url into your Browser (www.yoursite.com/old).

Everything should be working now. Now simply install your new Blogging Software in your Main Directory.

New Software

May 16th, 2009

As you can see, I’ve just switched from Joomla to Wordpress. Actually, I really like Joomla and it’s my favourite CMS, but for blogging it is just a little too complicated.

So I’ve decided to switch to Wordpress.  If you want to read any of my old Joomla Posts you can do it here.
