I've just read that google.de, the german Google Site went down yesterday, because another Company named goneo.de registered it. Google probably forgot to pay the Registration Fee. This may sound funny to People who own a .com Domain, but in Germany they have a pretty fucked up Registration System.
If another Person registers an existing Domain, the current owner gets a notice about that. If the old owner does not reply within 5 Business Day it's a done deal. Exactly the same thing happened already in 2004 with ebay.de, the German Ebay Platform.
It is more complicated to Transfer a Domain in Germany, but stealing a Domain seems to be much easier.
Transferring a .com Domain is so much easier. I just did that with couchblogging. I switched to godaddy, because I have all my Domains there. I just requested a Transfer at godaddy, then I logged into my old Registrar, unlocked the Domain and requested a Auth Code. Then I logged into godaddy and entered the Code. Done !!!
Easier and faster, but safer. Be first to comment this article | Add as favourites (115) | Quote this article on your site |

I've just heard from my Friend Evelyn from Switzerland that there is a Website called Couch Surfing.
CouchSurfing.com helps you make connections worldwide. You can use the network to meet people and then go and surf other members' couches! When you surf a couch, you are a guest at someone's house. They will provide you with some sort of accommodation, a penthouse apartment or maybe a back yard to pitch your tent in.
That's pretty cool. I was looking for a Site like that for a long Time, but never found anything similar like that. When I lived in San Diego in 1995 I worked for a Company who did exactly the same. But without the Power of the Internet. In 1995 basically nobody was using the Internet and they promoted them self with Posters and Flyers in Universities etc. Unfortunately they do not exist anymore.
